We are getting a lot of calls from panic buyers. Sadly, we can't deliver the Thermo-Gel Home Fire Protection kits fast enough to save the homes. Overnight shipping is very expensive and many times the roads are closed and delivery is not allowed. It takes 5-7 days for ground delivery.
As I watched news coverage of the Big Sur fire, they profiled one homeowner loading her car with possessions due to a voluntary evacuation. She said," We can't do anything now. It's out of our hands. We just have to pray."
The point here is that there was something that she could have done. In the time it took to load her car with possessions, she could have sprayed Thermo-Gel fire retardant on her home using a water hose. Or the firemen could apply it with their equipment if she had it available. This product saves lives and property.
Hopefully, we can find some enterprising contractors who are willing to buy the equipment needed to apply the Thermo-Gel and then provide a service to the homeowners in their area.
The other problem with the evacuation was Hwy. one. The only way out north or south was blocked with traffic.

Early one morning while watching the news from the relatively safe environment of my home, I was overcome with the feelings of sheer horror and guilt.

The horror was all over the the faces and actions of the people fleeing the fire, or trying against all odds to get back home to rescue their pets and animals.

The terror prevented any logical thinking and panic took over. I could emphasize with these victims of the wildfires because I have experienced fighting fires. I know the crazed look of panic as the fire roars toward their homes. I also know the total sense of relief and thanks with the hugs and kisses after we get a fire line around the town.

The guilt came from my becoming a distributor of fire retardant chemicals fairly recently.

I can't help but think that if these victims knew about these products , they would certainly use them. I have spent the last few months advertising and promoting these products with very little success. I think the economy has a lot to do with it. People are willing to take the chance that it won't happen to them, or that the Fire Department will put it out for them. We know that there aren't enough Fire Fighters where there is a fire storm propelled by Santa Ana winds. The challenge is how do we get homeowners to be proactive and think fire prevention?

Don't push your luck, do something to prevent fire, and restrict the rapid fire spread.
The fire retardant chemicals when properly applied, will starve a fire of the necessary fuel to keep it moving and building in intensity.

There are additives that you mix with water based paints and stains that can be painted on existing homes and decks. Also the TG-300 can be applied to leaves and dry grass creating a fire break that lasts until the rainy season. The rain will cause the protection to dissipate.

Non oil or solvent based, these retardants are non toxic and environmentally safe. These retardants work whether you are at home or not.

By Restricting the flame spread, these fire retardants are an invaluable tool in helping the firemen protect your home and any pets trapped inside.

I watched many homes with stucco siding and tile roofs , burn from the inside out and collapse. Wood treated properly with Fire Shield Chemicals not only resist fire spread, but fight termites, mold and mildew.
